gauging interest / planning for a "forum game"

Post by professional crybaby on December 30th 2016, 8:16 pm

alright OTTD so i have a stupid as fuck idea for a "forum game" of sorts which is sorta like a model congress sort of thing mixed in with the "OTx representative elections" and "the otthunderdome guide to us elections: 2032 and beyond!" and i want to see if it's worth the time of day or not

basically the idea is every week or so the people of OTTD have an american presidential election between users' made up parties and every party gets, let's say, a hundred dice. you put X amount of dice to each state (anything from 0 to all 100 of them) and then they get rolled and whoever gets the highest sum from their dice wins the state. ties are broken with a re-roll between the tying parties until someone wins. if nobody wins the electoral college the people of OTTD vote (or some other method of tiebreaking i guess if this seems too cumbersome)

winner of the election gets to do whatever they want to OTTD america for a week (right now this is all i can think of for stakes), and then the process repeats itself sorta like a model congress

what do you think (also the game will either end up in creative or HQS if people decide it's worth it)

seems semi interesting but i think it'd be a bit too much work for a weekly thing
maybe it should be once or twice a month

most of these details are just sort of ballpark figures to begin with pending the results of the poll in OP so

thats aside from my point if the south wins the big states then it does it through the voters and delegacy
theres an idea there, have the forum split up between parties and each member of the party be a delegate

tbh that would take more work than what i'm proposing which basically boils down to you make up a party, tell me where you want to roll your dice, and let her rip

in any case if this happens here is the temporary(?) OTTD electoral college map because the real electoral college is pretty easy to game

there are 171 possible votes (each state gets between 1 and 6, generated by random.org dice roll) and you'd need 86 of them to win a hypothetical thunderdome election

yeah but then it's slightly less fun because we can't pretend it's america
