you're obviously more ready for those classes than i was but i got put into english 3 ap and couldn't transfer out due to bullshit last year and had to keep turning in and bullshitting assignments because see the class was picking up from work you were supposed to do over the summer which included reading huck finn and i didn't even know i was in english 3 ap until it was too late so i have a bad experience with english ap
not to mention i've had a bad experience with english teachers and classes in general, they tend to be the least qualified teachers and if they don't like you they will FUCK you up. especially pregnant ones. fancy a guy who thinks he's good enough to write a novel barely passing english

thats a your-school thing bruh, all the lit teachers ive had were great if not good. freshman year teacher was the fucking bomb. last and this year's (same bitch) is alright, good teacher and all you know well rounded and qualified. although back in 8th grade she was a bitch to me - and she was very pregnant.
what you described is more like the math teachers at my school. and old women. poor decrepit souls.
now, i did get put in a pre ap trig class which i dont think i asked for cause i flunked algebra 1 and passed with a blessing. i bucked up a little when i got geometry tho.

but serious dude, pay attention in your eng class if you want to write a coherent novel. learn literary devices, how and when to use them, and how to put in symbolism and enough foreshadowing and plot building techniques. if you ignore the foundations of literature then your novel will come off as if a teenager wrote it.
and like spinner said a few days ago-- read more books, if not just to learn from them.

but hey your shit bro none of my business

my implication was that my english teachers would give me like 70s and 80s on my essays even though the delinquents were probably getting 60s. i have paid attention in english classes prior to being in public school and learned much.
also i have trouble doing trivial busywork i can't focus on it and those classes have tons. especially in both english i and english ii when i was told to pick five words i couldn't define and i couldn't pick one because i have a healthy vocabulary and they'd just be like "pick any five" but i wouldn't know where to start. that was the other part of it.
i also picked up reading again recently. read the hobbit and game change 2012 over the summer and only one of those was for school english 1-0-jew

i'm bringing this shit back boys

some new good shit for you to check out:

Confederates in the Attic by Tony Horwitz - a pretty quality book where tony horwitz goes around the deep south in search of the legacy of the civil war. pretty cool fucking book tbh especially if you like the civil war, but i'd recommend it to anybody

The Worst Hard Time by Timothy Egan - book about the dust bowl and how it affected parts of the midwest, especially places like the oklahoma panhandle. pretty enlightening and it covers a subject that, for how bad it was, doesn't seem to have a lot of literature about it

Hiroshima by John Hersey - aside from the fact that you can read this here and that alone is enough of a reason to read it, it's a pretty real book

a manga adaption of the good word. the book of revelation is so fucking action packed, so was the sodom and gomorrah part (where a chunk of brimstone shoots read through a fags forehead and blows his head all over)
